Runners, Here Are Some Reasons To Have A Chiropractic Adjustment Every Month

Brent Chapman

As a runner, you probably do a number of things to keep yourself healthy and strong. Maybe you follow a specific diet. Perhaps you stretch daily and make sure you hit the gym for some strength training once a week. These steps are all important and healthy for runners, but there is one more thing you may want to do. See the chiropractor. About once a month, head to a local chiropractic office for an adjustment. Here are some ways this will benefit you as a runner.

You will land more evenly on your feet

When your spine is out of alignment, you tend to stand a little crooked, and you probably run a little crooked. This means one leg will receive more stress and pounding than the other leg. Eventually, this can lead to injuries in the leg that is taking more of the force. It can also lead to uneven muscle development, which may cause you to continue to run "crooked." If you have your back adjusted regularly, then you will be more likely to run with even pressure and force on both feet, which will minimize your risk of injuries and also make your stride more efficient.

You may get better sleep

Even if you don't struggle with overt back pain, you may find that you sometimes feel uncomfortable in bed. You might struggle to find a comfortable position. Lay one way, and your hips hurt. Lay the other way, and your knees feel sore. This can often be the result of a misaligned spine that makes it hard for you to lie flat on your back or perfectly on your side. With regular chiropractic adjustments, you'll feel looser and have an easier time finding a comfortable sleep position. Better sleep will mean you recover from your runs faster and are able to train harder.

You will be better able to stretch

Stretching is important for runners. It helps keep the muscles from tightening up and pulling on your joints. But if your back is stiff, you may have a hard time stretching your legs and core. Chiropractic adjustments can loosen up your back so you are better able to stretch, which will help prevent injuries and allow you to run more comfortably.

Runners need to take care of their bodies if they want to continue to perform. See a chiropractic treatment professional once a month or so, and you'll likely feel better.

About Me
Staying Safe At Work

After I started working at my dad's lumber yard, I realized that some of my lifting habits were hurting my back. I realized that I couldn't stand up straight without wincing a little bit, so I decided to talk with a chiropractor about the issue. The professional carefully evaluated my condition and told me that I needed to focus on healthier back habits. I was able to learn how to stay safe at work by wearing a back brace and focusing on my posture. I want you to avoid debilitating back pain, which is one of the reasons I made this blog.
