2 Natural Bath Soaks To Help Ease Sore Muscles After A Deep Tissue Massage

Brent Chapman

A deep tissue massage is great for loosening stiff muscles and relaxing tense tissue throughout your body. A deep tissue massage is usually performed for extended periods of time and can feel painful during and after the massage. The pain that is felt during the massage is because of the amount of pressure that needs to be applied throughout your body in order to alleviate stiff and tense muscles. Once the deep tissue massage is complete, your body may feel sore. While this feeling will wear off after a few days, there are a few bath soaks that you can use to help alleviate the pain until then.

Castor Oil Bath Soak

Castor oil is frequently used to help mollify pain because it is seen as a natural analgesic. The oil's analgesic properties help to soothe pain relief caused by lower back pain and sore muscles. In order to use the oil as a bath soak, fill your tub with hot water. Add several tablespoons of the oil to your bath and allow the water to cool slightly. Place your entire body in the tub and soak for a few minutes or until the water is no longer warm. The longer that you allow your body to soak in the tub, the easier it will be for the oil to absorb into your skin. Immediately following the bath, you can take a few drops of the castor oil and rub it directly into the areas of your body that are sore. Since your skin is still damp, the castor oil will absorb better if used immediately following the bath. Use this bath soak daily in order to see a reduction in pain.

Peppermint Bath Soak

Peppermint is continuously used for a number of ailments and issues. The herb contains antibacterial properties that fight off bacteria and anti-inflammatories. The herb can also be used to soothe pain and muscle aches. In order to utilize peppermint, add several handfuls of the herb to a large pot. Fill the pot up with hot water and allow the herb to steep for several hours. If you have the time, then you can let it steep overnight. The longer it steeps, the stronger the bath soak will be. Fill your tub with hot water and add the peppermint mixture to the tub. Add a handful of fresh peppermint leaves to the tub. Soak in the peppermint mixture until the water turns cold.

A deep tissue massage is an ideal way to get the muscles in your body to relax and release unnecessary stress. However, the pain that follows may be unbearable. Use these bath soaks to help reduce that pain.

About Me
Staying Safe At Work

After I started working at my dad's lumber yard, I realized that some of my lifting habits were hurting my back. I realized that I couldn't stand up straight without wincing a little bit, so I decided to talk with a chiropractor about the issue. The professional carefully evaluated my condition and told me that I needed to focus on healthier back habits. I was able to learn how to stay safe at work by wearing a back brace and focusing on my posture. I want you to avoid debilitating back pain, which is one of the reasons I made this blog.
